Instagram’s Live broadcast feature is quite popular. Brands and ordinary people alike use the feature to stream events, big and small, to their followers. It’s become quite popular over time and Instagram has been improving it slowly ever since. You can save an Instagram live video and make it available for 24 hours to your followers. The latest addition that Instagram has made to live videos is a neat conference feature. You can now go live with friends on Instagram.
Technically, you can go live with anyone who is watching your live Instagram video. In order to go live with friends on Instagram, you must be running version 20, or above, of the Instagram app. The update has been rolled out worldwide so you should see it in your respective app store within 24 hours. It’s available for both iOS and Android users. If you’re an Android user and you’re in a hurry to try the feature out, you can download the latest APK and side-load it. Your friend doesn’t need to be running the latest version of the app in order to go live with you.
Live With Friends On Instagram
Open Instagram and tap the camera button at the top left. From the bottom of the camera view finder screen, swipe to Live mode and start broadcasting live. Wait for your friend to start watching your feed. If you friend isn’t watching the live video, you cannot invite them to join you.
Tap the two faces icon at the bottom and from the menu that pops up, select the friend you want to invite. They will receive an invitation to join your stream and will have the option to decline it if they want. Additionally, your friend can leave the live video any time, or you can remove them.
Once your friend joins the live video, your screen, and that of your followers will split into two. You get the top half, and your friend’s stream appears in the bottom half. You can both stream audio and video.
Everything else works much the same as it does in an ordinary, one-person live stream. When you end the video, you have the option to save it as a local MP4 file, or to make it available to your followers for 24 hours i.e. post it to your story.
This is certainly a creative addition to the live feature. The stream quality doesn’t suffer when you have two people streaming at once though you must both have a reasonable good, stable connection to begin with.
