According to Phonaesthetics, the compound noun ‘Cellar Door’ is the single most beautiful sounding phrase in the entire English language. Whether the words themselves are pleasing to your ear or not, the Kodi build of the same name is undeniably a thing of beauty. CellarDoor has been one of Kodi’s most popular builds for a while now, though it took them a little while to get up to speed after Kodi v17 Krypton was released. However, it finally emerged back in May and after playing with it for a couple of months, we are impressed with what we have seen.

The new version of CellarDoor looks amazing and works very intuitively which tells us that the developers not only know their way around Kodi but also understand what the Kodi community wants from their builds. They had set standards high with their version of CellarDoor for Kodi v16 Jarvis, so there were some people voicing concern that they couldn’t reach the same heights again. But they have and what’s more, we reckon this version is even better.

It has new animated windows, which may not add to the functionality of the build, but look amazing. The default background may be grey, but this changes as you hover over content which is also a great feature. Access to information about the content you want to view can be pulled up easily while the stream source selection options make it easy to find a working stream for just about everything. When you add in simplified menus along with the ease with which the new CellarDoor build can be customised, and it becomes clear that it really does offer just about everything.

In this guide, we will tell you how to download and install CellarDoor onto Kodi Krypton. We will also give you a full rundown of exactly what CellarDoor has to offer so you know what treats you have in store.

Before You Use Kodi, Get a Good VPN

Before we look at the CellarDoor build in more detail, let’s take a moment to consider your security. While Kodi is completely legal to use, its open-source architecture allows third-party developers to create add-ons which grant access to restricted content. Copyright holders and ISPs have taken a dim view of this possibility, and use a heavy brush to paint all Kodi users as potential targets for warnings and legal actions (even when their activity conforms to the letter of the law).

A virtual private network, or VPN can help keep you safe by anonymising your activity online. There are many services to choose from, but we’ve made our selection for the very best to pair with Kodi based on the following criteria:

  • Fast connection speeds
  • Strong privacy protections
  • No restrictions on data or traffic
  • Wide server availability

We Recommend IPVanish

How to Install the CellarDoor Build on Kodi

There are two ways you can install the CellarDoor build. One is by using the Ares Wizard to download it from the Ares repository. The other is through the CellarDoor Wizard. We would recommend that you use the latter because the CellarDoor Wizard offers a wider variety of installation options and there is no need to input a pin number either. However, we will provide you with step-by-step guides to both and the final choice is down to you.

How to Install the CellarDoor Build Using the CellarDoor Wizard

The CellarDoor Wizard is the easiest means to download the CellarDoor build onto Kodi. The download and installation process is very straightforward. All you have to do is follow these simple steps:

  1. First, visit http://ift.tt/2oZ7HqN and download the installation zip file. This will be called program.CellarDoorTVwizard.zip.
  2. Open Kodi, then select Add-ons then click the open box icon at the top of the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
  3. Click on Install from zip file. Then navigate to the place where you saved the zip file in step 1 and select it. You will have to wait a few seconds for it to install.

  1. Return to the Kodi Home Page and click on You should see the Wizard listed here and you can open it. Then, select [17.1] infusion – krypton [version] from the menu.

  1. This will automatically download CellarDoor onto your Kodi. Once it has finished downloading, Kodi will automatically shut down. When you open it up again, the CellarDoor build should now greet you.

How to Install the CellarDoor Build Using Ares Wizard

If you do decide to use Ares Wizard rather than the CellarDoor Wizard, the process is also pretty straightforward, although it does include the annoying step of having to enter a PIN. Using this method, you will need to download and install the Ares Wizard Repository and then install CellarDoor from there. You can do this by following this simple guide:

  1. First, download the Ares Wizard repository files onto your device. You can do this by visiting http://ares-repo.eu and downloading aresproject.zip.
  2. Then, open Kodi, select Add-ons, followed by the open box icon at the top of the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
  3. Choose Install from Zip File and then navigate to where you download the zip file in step 1. Click on it to open and download it.
  4. Go back to the Add-ons menu and click the open box icon again. This time click on Install from repository > Ares Project > Program add-ons > Ares Wizard.
  5. Click Install and the Ares Wizard Repository will be downloaded and install onto your Kodi. You will receive a notification in the top right of the screen when the download is complete.
  6. Return again to the Kodi home page. Click on Add-ons > Programs > Ares Wizard.
  7. From the menu on the top of the screen, select Browse Builds then look for the CellarDoorTV build.
  8. At this point, you will need to click on a link to generate a pin code. This is an annoying step in the process, but shouldn’t take too long to complete. Once you get your PIN, enter it and then select Infusion > Krypton and click install.

  1. The CellarDoor build will now download onto Kodi and Kodi will again shut down. When you open it again, CellarDoor should be what you see.

CellarDoor build – An Overview

CellarDoor is, without doubt, one of the most impressive Kodi builds around at the moment. It looks fantastic, with individual animated windows for each movie or TV show you select, and background styles which change when you hover over content. It also pulls up all the information and plot summaries on whatever you want to watch from IMDb. This is shown in full which is a real bonus, as many builds either cut it down or force you to navigate using arrow buttons. This is a real bugbear of many users, so it is nice to see CellarDoor addresses it.

It is a really user-friendly build too, with a simplified set of menus which gives you just eight clear and self-explanatory options to choose from:

  • Movies
  • TV Shows
  • Kidszone
  • Music
  • Apps
  • System
  • TV Pro
  • Sports

We go into more details about each of these sections below. They basically cover everything most Kodi users will want. But if you feel something is missing, CellarDoor also includes the option to design your own menu systems too.

Another really useful feature offered is choosing your own stream source. This means that if there are multiple streams across different addons within CellarDoor, you can choose which you want to use. These are just two of the many customisation features included with CellarDoor which is one reason why experienced Kodi users love it just as much as beginners. Other customisation options include:

  • Enable/disable auto-scrolling
  • Remove floor graphics
  • Enable/disable widgets
  • Switch to simplified view
  • Switch to different pre-configured skins
  • Change colours and fonts
  • Zoom in or out

Default Menu Options

Now let’s delve a little deeper into what CellarDoor has to offer by taking a look at the eight default menu options.

Movies: Clicking on the Movies tab will take you to a stylish page which features thumbnail images of a number of the latest popular movies. Hovering over the image will bring up the plot info for the movie and also change the background image. You can scroll left and right to see other titles or use the widget to navigate further. The movies section is based on three main add-ons – Bob, Specto, and Exodus. Many Kodi users would content that these are the three best around and each source from different places which give you a wide variety of content as well as a higher ratio of working links.

TV Shows: Understandably, the TV Shows section mirrors Movies in many ways. It works in the same way, but clicking on a show brings up even more information as it also links to previous series too. Many commentators have compared it to using Netflix and we would agree that there are similarities.

Kidzone: This section is packed full of kid-friendly movies and TV shows and features enlarged thumbnails which really appeal to the little ones. These do not link to the movie database but rather go straight to the stream, which is not ideal for parents if they are not already familiar with the film. It is possible to view user ratings through the menu bar though which does give you some idea of if a movie or TV show is any good.

Music: Our view is that the music section is not the best that you can find, but it does serve some purposes. For example, the ‘party mode’ playlist option lets you set criteria for the sort of music you want and then automatically plays songs that fit your requirements. This is great as background music for a party or social event. Otherwise, it will simply offer lists of songs and then try to find them on YouTube which can be hit and miss.

Apps: The Apps menu tab is a functional one which allows you to access the core maintenance features on Kodi, you can also open the CellarDoor wizard and change to a different version of CellarDoor as well as view the addons on your system.

Settings: As the name suggests, this menu option lets you access and adjust the various settings on Kodi.

TV Pro: TV Pro is the name they have given to the IPTV links. Clicking on it opens up a long list of different IPTV links. Choose one to access a live stream of that channel.

Sports: This option links users to all the best Kodi sports add-ons. It includes such staples as SportsDevil and Pro Sport and should enable you to find links to just about any live sporting event you are interested in seeing.

Put together, these menu options provide access to just about any type of media content you might be looking for. Ultimately, this is what most Kodi users are looking for from their builds, and is one of the main reasons CellarDoor is so popular. Do you use the CellarDoor build? Why or why not?
